Dear animal lovers and supporters,
We are about to embark on an important project that is very close to our hearts: the construction of another quarantine centre at the state animal shelter on Rhodes.
This centre is crucial to ensure the survival of new arrivals, especially puppies, and to prevent infection among the animals.
Unfortunately, our first quarantine centre is not nearly sufficient to protect new arrivals from disease.
Why is your help so important?
Protection for the weakest:
The centre primarily serves the puppies, who are extremely susceptible to diseases during the critical acclimatisation phase. Unfortunately, the parvovirus is still responsible for many deaths among the little creatures.
10 specially equipped enclosures:
Each 8 square metre enclosure provides safe and isolated housing. The construction of each enclosure costs €3,100.
Hygiene and safety at the highest level:
To keep the ward effectively clean and disinfected, it is fitted with high-quality, easy-to-clean tiles on the floors and walls. Access to and exit from this secure area is only possible by passing through a professional changing room sluice and is reserved exclusively for staff. This is the only way to reliably prevent the spread of infectious pathogens.
Preparations are underway and we will be able to start construction as soon as the funds have been secured and the foundations have been completed. Every euro helps to increase the chances of survival for these helpless animals.
The new quarantine centre is to be built on this site as soon as the foundations have been completed.
